PROLETAR band terbentuk di Jakarta, Indonesia, April 1999. Nama PROLETAR artinya Rakyat Jelata. Band ini memainkan konsep musik mince / grindcore yang terinspirasi band mancanegara, seperti: Terrorizer, Agathocles, Napalm Death, Carcass, Morbid Angel, dsb.
